Secrets to wealth

  1. SAVE at least 10% of everything you make, no matter what.
Live within your means and save money every month.
Avoid the temptation to 'keep up with the Joneses'

  2. INVEST for the long term.
Invest in things you understand, and hold on!

  3. credit card cascadeAVOID DEBT.
    Personal debt is devastating.
Make it a priority to pay off your credit card balances to avoid crippling interest charges.
Get advice from a financial advisor if necessary.

  4. Crunch the numbers YOURSELF.
Only the numbers tell you how you're really doing.
Watch them like a hawk and use the information every day.
Hire an accountant if you can't cope.

  5. Have a PLAN.
Expect things to grow steadily over the years (not over-night).
    Set 20, 30, even 50-year financial goals.

  6. Do INTERESTING THINGS.
Money is one way of keeping score, but it's not the game itself.
Money comes from doing something other people will pay for.
But it's only secondary to doing "interesting things." or "having fun".
If it's not fun - why do it?
